Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ChronoIQ at chronoiq.dev ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

ChronoIQ is a free AI-powered study scheduler. Its core features include:

  • Connecting to your Google Calendar and Google Classroom accounts via OAuth
  • Generating personalised study schedules using Google's Gemini AI and writing them to your Google Calendar as study-block events
  • A schedule setup wizard that creates recurring events for your weekly commitments (classes, sports, work)
  • Optional schedule import via image or PDF upload, processed by Gemini Vision to extract recurring events
  • A Pomodoro-style focus timer that records actual time spent on study blocks
  • A catch-up feature that uses AI to recommend triage when you fall behind
  • Personalised time-estimate suggestions based on your own past completed assignments
  • Streaks, weekly stats, and other progress tracking computed from your activity

The Service is provided free of charge and is intended for personal productivity use. ChronoIQ is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC.

3. Eligibility and Google Account Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age for digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to use the Service. Users under the applicable age must have verifiable parental or guardian consent.

Using ChronoIQ requires a Google account and your explicit consent to the Google OAuth permissions the Service requests. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials. ChronoIQ never has access to your Google password.

Your use of Google services through ChronoIQ is also governed by Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

4. Permitted Use

ChronoIQ is provided solely for your personal, non-commercial use as a productivity tool. You may use the Service to:

  • View your Google Calendar events and Google Classroom assignments in a unified interface.
  • Use the AI scheduler to generate and add study-block events to your own Google Calendar.
  • Manually add events, homework tasks, or recurring commitments through the ChronoIQ interface.
  • Upload schedule images or PDFs for the Service to extract recurring events on your behalf.
  • Use the focus timer to track time spent on individual study blocks.
  • Use the catch-up feature to receive AI triage recommendations on your overdue assignments.
  • Configure your scheduling preferences, including work hours, block lengths, and Pomodoro intervals.
  • Export your data or delete your account at any time via Settings.

5. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise derive the source code or algorithms of the Service (except where permitted by applicable law).
  • Use the Service to access, scrape, or harvest data from Google APIs beyond what is displayed to you in the normal course of using ChronoIQ.
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service, including cookie encryption or authentication.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to interact with the Service.
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person when using the Service.
  • Upload images, PDFs, or other files that you do not have the right to upload, or that contain content unrelated to your own personal schedule (e.g., copyrighted material, other users' personal data, illegal content).
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, overload, or impair the Service or its underlying infrastructure.

6. AI-Generated Content

ChronoIQ uses Google's Gemini AI for several features: generating study schedules, extracting recurring events from uploaded schedule images, recommending catch-up triage when you're behind, and suggesting personalised time estimates from your history. By using these features, you acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content is suggestive, not authoritative. The AI may produce schedules, extractions, or recommendations that are impractical, incomplete, or wrong for your circumstances.
  • You are responsible for reviewing AI output before acting on it, and for any consequences arising from following an AI-generated schedule or recommendation.
  • ChronoIQ does not warrant that the AI will correctly estimate time requirements, respect all constraints, schedule tasks optimally, or read every detail from an uploaded image accurately.
  • Events written to your Google Calendar by ChronoIQ are created under your own Google account. You retain full ownership and control over those events.

7. Google Calendar Modifications

ChronoIQ writes events to your Google Calendar on your behalf when you choose to schedule an assignment, run the setup wizard, or add a manual event. You acknowledge that:

  • You have authorised ChronoIQ to create events in your primary Google Calendar by granting the calendar.events permission on the Google consent screen.
  • Events created by ChronoIQ contain assignment or commitment details (title, course, type, marker text) in their descriptions. You can view, edit, or delete these events at any time in Google Calendar or via ChronoIQ's delete affordances.
  • Recurring events created by the setup wizard use weekly recurrence rules (RRULE) and continue until manually deleted or until their default one-year UNTIL date.
  • ChronoIQ is not responsible for scheduling conflicts, missed deadlines, or any other consequences arising from events added to your calendar.
  • Revoking ChronoIQ's Google permissions or deleting your ChronoIQ account does not automatically delete events already created on your Google Calendar. Those events belong to you and remain on Google's service.

8. Uploaded Files

If you upload an image or PDF to use the schedule import feature:

  • The file is sent to Google's Gemini Vision API for processing, then discarded from our server. We do not retain copies.
  • You represent that you have the right to upload the file and that it does not contain third-party personal data, copyrighted material you do not own, or illegal content.
  • The maximum file size is 10 MB. Supported formats are PNG, JPEG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, and PDF.

9. Intellectual Property

ChronoIQ and its original content, features, and source code are owned by the ChronoIQ developers and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for personal purposes only.

The data fetched from your Google accounts (calendar events, Classroom assignments) belongs to you and to Google. ChronoIQ makes no claim of ownership over any of your data.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or non-infringement.

ChronoIQ does not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time.
  • The AI-generated schedules, extractions, or recommendations will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your needs.
  • The Service will be compatible with all browsers, devices, or operating systems.
  • Any defects in the Service will be corrected, or that the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ChronoIQ and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, missed deadlines, academic consequences, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service.

ChronoIQ's total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed USD $0, reflecting the fact that the Service is provided entirely free of charge.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for consequential damages. In those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12. Third-Party Services

ChronoIQ relies on third-party services including Google APIs and Cloudflare (Pages and D1). Your use of these services through ChronoIQ is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. ChronoIQ is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service.

Links or references to third-party websites or services do not constitute an endorsement by ChronoIQ.

13. Service Availability and Modifications

ChronoIQ is a free service and is provided without any commitment to uptime or availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice and without liability.

We also reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where reasonably practicable, notify users through the Service.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account and all data we store about you, visit Settings → Account → Delete my account inside ChronoIQ. To revoke ChronoIQ's access to your Google account separately, visit myaccount.google.com/permissions.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately and without notice if we have reason to believe you have violated these Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ChronoIQ's operators are located, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless prohibited by applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence.

16. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Privacy Policy explains in detail what data we collect, how we use it, where it is stored, and how you can see, export, or delete it.
